2020年初,一场没有硝烟的战役已然打响。抗击新型冠状病毒感染的肺炎疫情不仅是媒体铺天盖地的宣传和号召,无聊宅家的日子,显示屏上不断增张的冰冷数字,更是每个家庭的幸福所在和个人的生命安全所系。什么是冠状病毒?这是一种怎样的传染疾病?如何自我防护?这些问题的答案,将在项目中一一得到解答。

项目将在来自海外*教授的指导下进行,旨在帮助学生构建公共卫生与生物医学,特别是冠状病毒相关知识,全面提升解决现实问题的能力,为未来*和求职奠定坚实的基础。

At the beginning of 2020, without warning a deadly battle began. The fight against the pneumonia epidemic of the new coronavirus infection is not only the overwhelming publicity and call of the media, the boring days at home, and the increasing cold numbers on the display screen, but also the happiness of each family and the life safety of individuals. What is a coronavirus? What kind of infection is this? How to protect yourself? The answers to these questions will be answered one by one in the project.

The program will be conducted under the guidance of professors from prestigious overseas universities, aiming to help students build knowledge related to public health and biomedicine, especially coronavirus, comprehensively improve their ability to solve practical problems, and lay a solid foundation for future studies and job hunting.

Professor Baird is Professor of Malariology at the Nuffield Department of Medicine at the University of Oxford and Director of the Eijkman-Oxford Clinical Research Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. He received his B.S. in Microbiology and M.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland and his Ph.D. in medical Zoology from Tulane University. He has long focused on Plasmodium vivax malaria, particularly G6PD deficiency and cytochrome P-450 2D6 pharmacogenetics issues related to the toxicity and efficacy of primaquine therapy against relapses in this strain. His laboratory conducts clinical trials for the treatment of P. vivax relapses, mainly among Indonesian soldiers, but also in village Settings, in addition to laboratory and field studies on the biochemistry, diagnosis, and epidemiology of G6PD deficiency.
